Coastal 4 Way
Coastal 4-Way contains the four top-ranked cultivars chosen for their high-quality turf attributes and lighter green colour, and is specifically selected for Vancouver Island and British Columbia’s lower mainland. For this temperate climate zone, Coastal 4-Way is an irresistible turf for sports fields, home lawns and elite golf courses.
T9 Drought Tolerant
A great mix for high drought stress applications, the Drought Tolerant Turf Blend can be used for maintained or unmaintained turf areas. Great for out-of-play areas on golf courses or areas where contrast with maintained turf is desired, the Drought Tolerant blend is very flexible.
Wildflower/Bee Blends
Climate: Choose cool-season grasses (like Kentucky Bluegrass) for cooler climates, and warm-season grasses (like Bermuda or Zoysia) for warmer regions.
Soil Type: Some blends work better in specific soils. For example, sandy or dry soils may benefit from drought-tolerant blends, while loamy soils are great for turfgrass blends.
Purpose of Area: Whether the area is for aesthetic purposes, erosion control, sports fields, or low-maintenance landscaping, there's a blend designed to suit the need.
Maintenance Level: Consider how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep. Blends such as wildflowers or native grasses are low-maintenance once established, while turfgrass blends may require more regular care.
Hydroseeding results in faster germination and growth compared to traditional methods. The mixture of seeds, mulch, fertilizer, and water creates a more consistent environment for seed growth, promoting quicker root development.
It's generally more affordable than laying sod and can be more cost-efficient than hand-seeding, especially for large areas. The equipment and materials used in hydroseeding can cover a large space in a shorter amount of time.
The hydroseeding process ensures a more even and thorough distribution of seeds. The slurry helps prevent seeds from clumping together or being washed away, which can happen with hand-seeding.
The mulch in hydroseeding helps protect the soil from wind and water erosion. This is particularly useful for areas with slopes or where the soil is vulnerable to erosion.
The mixture often includes water-retaining materials (like mulch), which can help reduce water evaporation and keep the seeds moist for longer periods, leading to a better success rate even in dry conditions.
The mulch and seed mixture can help prevent weeds by covering the soil and blocking sunlight from reaching weed seeds.
Hydroseeding allows for customized seed mixtures, which means it can be tailored to the specific conditions of the site (soil type, climate, and intended purpose of the area, like turf for lawns or erosion control for slopes).
Hydroseeding can be applied to uneven or hard-to-reach areas, such as hills or embankments, where sod or hand-seeding would be challenging.
The mulch used in hydroseeding is often organic and biodegradable, helping to enrich the soil and promote healthier long-term growth without the need for synthetic additives.
